Paving an Asphalt Driveway Tips

When you pave your driveway you improve its aesthetic and functional quality which consists of the shape, utility, and experience it facilitates.

The key to a good asphalt driveway begins before the asphalt is even laid. A strong gravel base must be consolidated, usually around 5 layers thick. If this base is either too thick or too thin the potential quality of the driveway is at risk.

More About Asphalt Paving

There are generally three elements to look out for in the installation of an asphalt driveway: Design, materials, and construction.

For design the future installation site itself merits attention. Factors such as soil type and drainage should be examined to ensure that any weak spots can be fixed. For materials, a suitable aggregate asphalt should be mixed for laying. Construction involves checking the weather so that rainy weather does not befall the installation day.

The way asphalt sealer works is by limiting the exposure the pavement gets to oxygen and water. By limiting exposure the lifespan of the pavement is increased. Pavements made of asphalt are comprised of rock, sand, and glue.

An additional benefit to using asphalt sealers is the restoration of the look and feel of the pavement, giving it a rich, clean look. The subjective benefit the enhanced look provides is a good first impression for the image of a company, residence, or other.

Strong pavement is good on the outside and the inside. Sealers work to prevent eroding agents like water from getting to the sub level of the pavement and compromising its integrity.
